Edenred

Materiality assessment and sustainability training for the Mexican subsidiary of the leading digital services and employee benefits solutions company.

CHALLENGE

Building a sustainability culture within Edenred’s Mexican operations.

The Edenred Mexico team came to us with a key question: where should we start to advance sustainability at the local level?
Edenred’s headquarters has a global ESG strategy called IDEAL, and the team needed clear guidance on how to activate it within the country.

We proposed starting with two strategic actions: a local materiality assessment to identify key impacts, risks, and strategic challenges, and a sustainability training program to strengthen the team’s capabilities to drive this agenda forward.

Double materiality assessment

We mapped the most significant impact topics that need to be measured and managed at the local operation through a double materiality exercise that included:

  • Industry benchmarking
  • Consideration of Edenred’s global sustainability strategy
  • Review of key industry guidelines
  • Identification of preliminary material topics
  • Online survey to validate stakeholder perspectives, including employees, clients, affiliates, users, suppliers, and the community
  • Board consultation to assess topics from a financial perspective
  • Presentation of the materiality matrix, prioritizing strategic, relevant, and emerging topics

Sustainability training

At Edenred’s Mexico City offices, we delivered a series of training sessions for the Corporate Culture and CSR team, focused on key sustainability topics, including:

  • Sustainability ABC: sustainability context, key concepts, and the overall state of the industry
  • Sustainability reporting: fundamentals, main standards, process evaluation, and analysis of Edenred’s global integrated report
  • Carbon footprint: key concepts, industry impact, and analysis of Edenred’s global carbon footprint
